His Ninth Life

I always joke (sort of joke, but it's usually very serious) that my son Casey has nine lives. After the other night, I'm sure that this was his ninth one and he has got to not let something like this happen again. He works a full time job, and had been working with a friend doing a second job that had been taking him into some late hours. He finished early this night, about 8:30, so he was heading down to Fallbrook to see his girlfriend for a little bit. He was just a few blocks from her house when he fell asleep at the wheel, drifted off to the right and went up the embankment, and woke up just as he was about to crash down on the drivers side of the truck. He slid on the road, hit something and rolled off down into a ditch. This isn't the first time he has fallen asleep on the road though...the first was on his way home from Disneyland years ago and he was in this same truck. Thankfully he hit the center divider, only blew out two tires and no one was hurt. This time, he walked away without a scratch as well, but the truck didn't fare as well. I think we'll be contacting scrapyards this next week and trying to sell it to them. He only had liability insurance, so he won't be getting anything from insurance.

I had to have it towed here to the house yesterday, and it was late by the time they got here, so today I went out to take photos of it. I'm so thankful and praising the Lord that he is ok.

Yes, I'm alive!

I know it's been forever since I posted, but I thought I'd just come and say hello, and add a little bit from my day today.
I work for a company called Brighton and today they had a little "camp" for those of us that worked at some of the different stores. Here I am with a few gals I work with and the owner himself of Brighton, Jerry Kohl. He really is an amazing man! He is so smart and so generous. He had different stations for each of us to go to today to see how each product is made. It was all very hands on which really helps us to appreciate all the work that goes into each and every product! He gave us an amazing lunch, a gift for each of us, and just provided us with so much knowledge about the products and the company. I've been with them for three years, but I learn so much at these events even still. There are designers that travel the world for inspiration, and it is so amazing to hear how they come up with their designs.
I'm off to do a little blog hopping since I have a little time tonight, and just don't feel much like scrapping!

She Drives Me Crazy

She looks sweet and innocent here, but she is literally driving me bonkers at this very moment. Can you see the look in her eyes? She wants something. It's past 11:30 am, and she thinks it's time to eat. She will sit there, look at me, and whine. Not a loud whine...just a little one, and just enough to make me want to scream. I don't like to feed her when she's whining though. I don't want her to think she is getting her way, but by 12 noon, I couldn't take it any longer, and got up and fed her. I'm a push over!

Fish Taco Tuesday

I always forget to go to Rubio's on Tuesday. I think the boys usually want to do the 2 for 1 pizza's at Stadium Pizza on Tuesdays. Tonight, I made the decision that it was going to be fish tacos!!

I always forget to take a photo before I start eating. Well, here you can see how big my bite is. (that might actually be a few bites!!) It was so delicious though...so delicious I had to eat two!

And here is Rick hamming it up a bit for the camera!

And...here is Eric. He doesn't look very happy, and in all honesty, he's not. He said he didn't feel well, but I think the real problem is that I told him he can't go anywhere or do anything until he gets a job. I feel if you don't have a job, than you should spend 8 hours a day looking for a job. I haven't seen that from him yet. I did take him around today because I had other errands to do too, and he got lots of applications, filled them out, and will go and turn them in tomorrow. Patrick (who I didn't get a photo of...not sure why) has one place to go tomorrow for work. He needs full time until he decides if he is going back to school or not, so he is going to a staffing agency. Eric just needs part time for the summer and because he'll be in college in a few months Maybe he should get an application at Rubios!

Such a Slacker

Yep...that's me. A total slacker with this blog. I really don't mean to be...but if the shoe fits, I guess I have to wear it!

This photo is from last night. I drove down to San Diego with my parents (who were visiting from northern California) to see my brother. He lives near Washington DC, but is a psychologist in the Navy, and will be deployed to either Kuwait or Afghanistan in a few weeks. He had to fly out to San Diego for processing, weapons training at Camp Pendleton, and then he'll be flying out. He had to leave his wife and kids ON Father's Day, which was very hard on his kids (just the fact that he will be gone for 8 months is what's really hard). Anyway, here he is, showing his wife that I did NOT buy a Lexus SUV, which is what she kept pointing out to him back at home. It was a bit of a surprise when I showed up in an Infinity Sedan. I have no idea why his wife thought I got a Lexus SUV though...I never mentioned one to her!
My parents have left town, but I was able to take them down twice to see him. I hope to be able to go down again later this week to have dinner with him before he'll be at the other base for training. He's never had weapons training before since he's a doctor. Even when he was deployed last time, he never had to carry a gun. Things are different this time though.

My Hairstylist

This is the one girl that I could NEVER live without!! This is Lily, and she's been doing my hair for nine years now. I started going to her when she got back from maternity leave with her first child. She has two boys at home ages 7 and 9, and now she is due with her third little boy. Isn't she absolutely adorable? I just love her. She is just the sweetest, and she has the most infectious laugh!! She colored my hair today, and I went darker. I probably should've had someone take my picture today, but I'll try to get one of me soon with it. It's much shorter too. I won't get to see Lily for my next appointment since she'll be on maternity leave, but she'll make sure I'm in good hands with another gal there!
Things are going great here. The pool sold and the family that bought it will be coming by to pick it up tomorrow. I hope it's all drained by then though. They have two young children, and they were so excited when they saw it. It gets so hot here in the summer, and they weren't happy with the pool they bought last year that was much cheaper. I'm so happy it will be going to such a nice family. I know they'll get a lot of use out of it!

Selling Our Things

We set our pool up the other day to post a photo on Craigslist to sell it. We chose not to put in a pool in our yard when we bought the house 10 years ago. There is a super steep slope right behind this, and the concrete retaining wall we would've had to build would have just costed too much. This actually has been a nice little pool for us. With the basketball hoop right there, the boys had a lot of crazy pool basketball games in here.

We just had a financial crisis happen, and I'm losing all of our extra income we had. My husband is still employed, but it doesn't cover everything plus all the extras. So, I'm listing a lot of our extra things that we really don't need anymore and trying to sell them to help pay some things down. It will just help if I can sell some things off until we can decide what we need to do. My part time work will need to go full time, and I don't think that my work has full time to offer. I pretty much stayed at home all the years my boys were small, so I don't have a lot of skills or experience. Definitely a lot of prayer is needed right now that we choose God's will and follow his plan for us, whatever that may be.

Off to blog hop and then off to work!
